More sweeties

September 16th, 2010

Hello
Got back some more ceramic pieces from class today, Ive been rather looking forward to these two especially.
The first is a lady in a hat lolly bowl
front
Ive always wanted a sort of fancy lolly bowl, permanently full of sweeties, like the one my Nana had

Now I just have to wait to fill her up with chocolates from Pauls course in a week or so

Cruelty free taxidermy

August 12th, 2010

I have always loved the look of taxidermy but at the same time it seems a bit iffy, so I made myself a bunny head for the wall in ceramics instead
front
He was quite a tricky sculpt to do in the end, but Im fairly happy with him, I put two little holes under his chin to tie a ribbon into a bow for him and I think that might be what I like best about him
side
I made him to go on the wall underneath the beautiful paper dolls that Amy from Wool and Water made for Paul’s and my anniversary, he seems to work nicely with it somehow

Three more ceramic girls are being fired and glazed this week and I just made a little geisha with a dolly this afternoon, Im very keen to get much more done this term!

A new term of ceramics

August 4th, 2010

Hello
Just got back my first two finished ceramics pieces from this term.  I did these ones at home so Im very relieved they have survived all their travelling to get back here in one piece.

This little Pierrot is just about to get a bit of sanding down, then I will glaze her and take her in to class for a firing, that ruffle was sheer Hell to make by the way so I hope she doesnt explode in the kiln!

I have a bunny head to pick up this week too, I do love doing ceramics!

The Cheesebear

June 30th, 2010

Hello
This is my next ceramics piece, its a cheeseboard, shaped as a bear skin rug, the little girl sitting on the rug is actually the lid for the very small olive or dip container on the bear.

You can sort of make out the little container in the middle of the bear rug in this picture

For now she is living on my sideboard in the dining room, one of the problems if I keep making these things is what to do with them!

I am dying to bring out the cheeseboard though next time I have visitors, not sure if it will impress them or worry them.

New Jamfancy Blythe outfit up on ebay!

June 17th, 2010

Hi
Im doing an ebay auction again after the longest time.  Its always horribly stressful, and ebay have changed the process of uploading again so that I cant have a coloured background, so it looks a bit weird, but oh well, here goes, fingers crossed.  Its for a good cause though, all proceeds to go towards Paul and I having chickens in our backyard *L*
Here is the link
and here is how it should have looked
Its a smallish set, with a hand painted deer on the dress and antlered faux fur bonnet and matching cape.  The deer is a special one to match the dress.

My first finished ceramics piece

June 15th, 2010

Hello
Well after doing ceramics for about ten weeks now I finally got a finished piece back today, its such a long process, you make the figure, then its fired, then you colour it, then fired, then glazed and fired, I felt like so much could go wrong, so Im really happy to have her back and in one piece at last.  It was really weird colouring her in as well, she looked so different before the firing and the glazing changes the colours again.
Anyway, here she is, my little deer girl
front
she has a tail

I took her out into the wilds of our backyard too, her natural habitat

Im hoping to get back my next lot of work next week, its a bear rug, with head, as a cheeseboard, he has a little sort of raised dish in the middle for olives or whatnot and the lid is a little girl that sits on the bear rug.  Hope she survives her glazing.
