Things I have my eye on……..

June 8th, 2010

Hello
It seems I have a “need” to constantly browse Japanese clothing, I just recently was put back to dial up speed and I think I actually had withdrawals when I couldnt do this at least once a day*L*
Here are the things that are catching my eye just now
Balcony and Bed are always beautiful, but this wonderful Liberty print is killing me

This very sensible looking, for me at least, bag from Beaure, it even has a matching wallet

Mother too always has things that I drool over, but these cute little socks and this top are my current favourites

oh and this top as well, I love the gentle fall of it and the subtle writing, rather beautiful
20310551and just a little bit of circus fun from Franche Lippee as well

Ive decided the only thing I can have from all this loveliness is the sensible bag, there are times in life when you just need a bag that isnt shaped like an animal or covered in eye catching pattern!   Maybe if I make some things to sell I can justify one more thing………………..
PS if you are looking for any of these brands, try out Rakuten in English translation mode, many of the shops now ship international.

New prints in the store again

June 4th, 2010

Hello
Here is some new work that went into the Etsy store yesterday
This Little Indian Girl is my favourite, I am considering keeping the original, I only own two of my own works so it would be a big move…..

Puppy Dogs' Tails

Hello
Some new prints in the shop, and they are all boys!  I often get requests for images of little boys, seems I have a girly bias, so I hope these balance things out just a smidge.

I named these two, the “Wishing Hat” and the “Wishing Trousers”, I really like the idea of that, I want both items

Making our own fun!

May 5th, 2010

Hello
Paul and I spent last weekend making raised vegetable beds for our upcoming kitchen garden, for some reason we are wildly excited about this and it spilled over into the every day
Look at our toilet for instance
happytoilet
I left it as a surprise for Paul to find, then I just got silly
Grumpy Toilet

and Sad Toilet

We had paid a trip to Bunnings for supplies and while Paul was working on the garden beds, I was doing more important things
wateringcanchums
with that done I went to help with the hard work, it really was hard, blisters, sore backs, but very satisfying to see a very long term dream coming together at last, now for the dirt and the plants!

Oh and if you are in Australia and always wanted to grow your own vegetables I can’t recommend the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden book enough, so full of helpful tips and with recipes to boot!
Next stop, chickens!

Something beginning with B

Hello
Bicycles and Boaters to be precise.  I find myself obsessing about both items and not really needing either, in fact I have a bike and a boater, but they aren’t so nice as these ones are….
Look at this beauty in palest peachy pink from Retrovelo

Love the white tyres
paula_klassik-110f7cbc
then there are all the delightful accessories to buy as well, this one is from the retrovelo store
rahmentasche-1331aae6
and I have coveted these for a very long time and just found them online and shipping to Australia here
basket2

they had these rather natty seat covers as well

Then there are the boaters, I have a pin head though and finding one that really fits has lead to my now owning three, with only one of them really doing the job.  Should have waited till the new Spring collections from Japan.
Adam et Rope:

and these arent boaters but what the Hell, I love them too!
This one is from Mother and its soooo green and insanely pricey at nearly $300

this one is from Chou Chou de Maman and at least it would fit my head*L*

Oh well, I just dont need any of it so I will have to be satisfied with the joy of seeing lovely things.

Something new in the store!

April 14th, 2010

Hello
Ive been sitting on these cloth “dolls” for what seems like ages, something unpleasant occurred, then something pleasant in the shape of a holiday and now finally they are up for sale in the Etsy store.
Introducing “Five Little Girls”
bag
There are five dolls in a drawstring bag, with one special guest, I put him in a mask in these photos for a “disguise”, but its just drawn on to keep you in suspense*L*  They were printed using my laser printer on to fabric, then cut out, laboriously machine sewn (it has made me a much faster sewer!) and stuffed.  They have no real practical purpose but can hang any old place around your home, or maybe make a Christmas appearance on the tree?  Im sure the bag could be handy for something too.

All the details are at the store, sorry about the horrible shipping price for overseas people, its the problem with living so far away in Australia, I tried to make it as reasonable as possible though.
Here they all are:

plus one mystery chap

Thanks and bye

I heart Paul

March 27th, 2010

Hello
Paul made the most lovely heart shaped rose and raspberry macaron for a friends Birthday last week and I want to show it off a bit!
DSC04930
It is filled with homemade raspberry jam and chantilly cream, which is just cream with vanilla, but it tastes wonderful
DSC04936
and here it is just before it was eaten up

It was such a lovely day.

Its more shoes….

March 25th, 2010

Hello
With Winter coming I am supposed to be finding a pair of plain brown boots to replace the pair I have with a hole in them……….like these Koos
koos
or perhaps these from Jeffrey Campbell
img56598571
They are both good practical Winter boots, brown………….however, I just keep getting distracted by things like these from Minnetonka
mocasin
I see myself padding about in moccasins, maybe tracking deer?
or something very strappy from RNA-N
rna
more Jeffrey Campbell
jeffreycampbell

Or these Jane Marple four straps, which for me are the Holy Grail of shoes
janemarple
Ive taken so long to decide of course that at least two of these have sold out, I think its the black strappy Jeffrey Campbell ones that are winning, but they arent boots are they?

Jane Marple

March 21st, 2010

Here is another favourite Japanese brand Jane Marple I think my life would be complete if I could own one of these squashy little boaters, but it is singularly difficult stuff to get your hands on outside of Japan unfortunately.

I simply adore the shoes, one day I will time it just right and be in Japan when these are in store, one day………..

New prints in the store and something to try at home.

March 20th, 2010

Hi
Just put a couple of newish prints in the store
Farty Boy Hero
farty copy
and this odd little girl with sausages as a pet
sausage copy
and now for the something to try at home.  Cant really call this a recipe, but I swear it tastes very nearly like cheesecake and is basically very good for you, I love how I feel like Im getting away with something every time I eat it.
Start with some Evia yoghurt, the plain full fat one, although I bought the low fat by mistake and it seemed to taste the same
yoghurt-plain
sprinkle a good handful of Vogel Cluster Crunch breakfast cereal
classic-clusters
on to about two heaped tablespoons of the yoghurt and then add a third of a punnet or so of blackberries
blackberries430x300
not sure you need a picture of blackberries…………but anyway, mush it all about a bit and be amazed at how healthy it all is and how cheesecakey an experience you are having!  It really is very good.
